FAQs
What happens in the first session?
We’ll spend our time getting to know you—what’s been going on, what you want to work on, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. Think of it as a conversation, not an interrogation. You set the pace, and there’s no pressure to share everything all at once.
What if I’ve done therapy before and nothing really changed?
That’s something I hear often, and it’s completely valid to wonder if this time will be different. From our very first session, we’ll explore what has and hasn’t worked for you in the past so treatment feels tailored—not generic. We’ll look at how your history, family and relationship dynamics, and past trauma show up in the present—especially in the ways you set boundaries, navigate attachment, and measure your own self-worth.
For high-functioning adults, these patterns often run quietly in the background, driving perfectionism, people-pleasing, or overachievement. My approach helps uncover and rewire those relational patterns so change feels possible, not just theoretical.
How confidential is therapy?
Your privacy is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which sets strict standards for how your health information is stored, shared, and discussed. Everything we talk about stays between us, except in situations where I’m legally or ethically required to break confidentiality, i.e., if you are at risk of harming yourself or others, if there is suspected abuse of a child, elderly person, or dependent adult, or if I receive a valid court order. I use secure, HIPAA-compliant video and record-keeping systems to ensure your information stays private.
How often will we meet and do you offer virtual sessions?
We’ll start with weekly sessions to build a steady rapport and make progress faster. Over time, we may shift to biweekly as you feel more confident applying what you’ve learned. I work virtually with clients anywhere in New York State through secure video sessions, so you can do therapy from the comfort of your own space. No commute and no waiting room!
Do you take insurance?
I’m an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. Many of my clients use their out-of-network benefits to get part of the cost reimbursed. I use Thrizer to make it easier and you’ll just pay your portion at the time of our session. They handle the rest.
Cost & Investment
Therapy is an investment in yourself, your relationships, and the life you want to live.
Session Rate:
$220 for a 50-minute individual session.
Payment:
Payment is due at the time of our session. I accept all major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards for your convenience!
Out-of-Network Benefits
I’m an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly but rather, clients use their benefits for reimbursement for sessions anywhere from 40-70%.
To make this process easier, I use Thrizer, a platform that handles the process for you. I’ll handle submitting claims, and you’ll pay your deductible or portion of the fee at the time of our session. There’s no back and forth for either of us!
We can check your out-of-network benefits through Thrizer before starting so you know exactly what to expect.
Sliding Scale for NYC Civil Servants & Teachers
I keep a few reduced-rate spots for NYC civil servants and teachers as a way to give back to people who give so much to the community.

Spots are limited, so reach out if you think you might qualify.
Why I’m Not In-Network
Working outside of insurance networks gives us more freedom. It protects your privacy, avoids the need for detailed reports about your treatment, diagnoses, and lets us set the pace and focus that works best for you.
